Crude oil tanker BREEZE reportedly collided with Indonesian coaster MAKMUR at around 0215 LT Dec 10 in Singapore Straits near Indonesia-Singapore sea border. MAKMUR reported sank, 11 crew rescued, 4 of them badly injured. MAKMUR was en route from Singapore to Thailand with cargo of merchandise, BREEZE is en route from South Korea to Galle Sri Lanka. According to Indonesian sources, collision took place in Singaporean waters, BREEZE was stopped for investigation.
According to AIS track, though, tanker is under way in Malacca Strait and as of 0730 UTC Dec 10 was abeam of Port Klang. BREEZE track doesn’t show speed reduce or stop in the morning Dec 10. The ship did make a stop at Singapore Anchorage lasting some 11 hours, roughly from 0300 UTC until 1400 Dec 9, so if there was investigation and tanker was detained, collision should take place in the morning Dec 9.
