Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) is going to commission two new ships–Banglar Joyjatra and Banglar Sommriddhi–in the coming September. Three more ships —Banglar Arjan, Banglar Agrajatra and Banglar Agradut is scheduled to be added with the BSC fleet in December this year while another one ‘Banglar Agragati’ in February 2019. China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation is building the ships of 39,000 tonnes of capacity each with a total cost of TK 1,843 crore. Among the six ships, three are oil tankers and the rest are bulk carriers. He added that the BSC board of directors recommended 10 percent cash dividend for 2016-17 for its shareholders. The proposal was approved at its annual general meeting last month.
