Western Marine Shipyard Limited is the only Export oriented and one of the biggest shipyards in Bangladesh. The company was founded with its own slipways in 2000. Later due to increase of foreign order WMShL enhanced its facilities & capacity to a world class shipyard. Since then the company gradually attained prominence as a major shipbuilding company with quality based motivation till today. They are specialized in new building of Multi-purpose cargo ships, Inland container ships, Inland tankers, Passenger ships, Ro-ro ferries, Port utility ships, Tugs, Offshore petrol vessels, Specialized fishing vessels, Dredgers, Landing crafts etc. They have delivered for more than 100 ships to domestic & overseas buyers.
Exported 31 nos. of vessels of various type to Germany, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Ecuador, UAE, Tanzania, Uganda, Gambia, Kenya, India & Pakistan. Currently building 05 export vessels for Norway & Indian buyer.
This they have exported an Offshore Patrol Vessel to Kenya and two 8000DWT Cargo ships to Indian owner Jindal, these are the largest vessels to be ever built & exported from Bangladesh so far. Further a Landing Craft for an Dubai based owner is under process of being exported by November 2017. They are also building 30 ships for domestic use, which includes 2 largest passenger ships of Bangladesh for BIWTC, 2 tugs for Chittagong Port & Payra Port, 20 cargo ships for commodity business to be owned by a private owner, 4X176 TEUs inland container ships for Pangaon Port Operation and 2 high end & heavy duty Landing Craft for Bangladesh Government use.
